Frequently Asked Questions About the Custom Home Building Process

How long is the custom home-building process going to take?
Because each home we build is customized to your specific needs and preferences, every project is different. But generally speaking, the building process can be broken down into three stages:

  • Design phase: 3 to 6 months (varying based on your availability to provide timely feedback)
  • Permitting: The permitting process is rather complicated, so we’ll go into the details in another article (stay tuned!)

Earlier this week, Rufty Homes and architect Michael Booth were recognized by Capital Area Preservation, Inc. for the newly constructed McDonald residence at 520 Blount Street in Raleigh. Our efforts on this residential infill project in Raleigh’s cherished Oakwood historic district received an Anthemion Award for excellence and commitment to historic preservation in Wake County.
