The history of Raleigh's Blount Street goes back more than a century. Once considered Raleigh's grand avenue and home to the Governor's Executive Mansion, Blount St. was among the region's most "fashionable neighborhoods" between the Civil War and mid-1900s.
Most of the residential building on and around Blount St. took place just before the turn of the century through the 1920s. Numerous ornate residences with interesting stories set a foundation for this historic neighborhood, with The Governor's residence completed by 1891.
Interestingly enough, for nearly a century no new home construction has taken place along this scenic, main boulevard into downtown. That is, until now.
Rufty Homes has the distinct honor, and pleasure, of building an elegant new residence on Raleigh's most treasured avenue. Stay tuned as we progress at this historic address. As you can see here, we're off to a good start.
