Connecting With the Raleigh Community Through Recent Sponsorship Events

Supporting the community through various philanthropic efforts has long been one of our core values as a company. In September, we had the opportunity to host and participate in four different events to support important causes and local leaders in the community. Recent Philanthropic Events

Rufty Homes Open House BBQ Benefiting St. Jude

Over the years, we’ve been a proud sponsor of the St. Jude Triangle Walk/Run event. We originally got involved with this cause thanks to one of our dear clients, Julianne Capps, who is a childhood cancer survivor who received support from St. Jude during her treatment. We encourage you to read Julianne’s story to learn a firsthand account of all the ways St. Jude supports families in need.

This year, to help raise more awareness about the event and the important work that St. Jude does, we hosted an open house BBQ in our parking lot on September 14. Several of our project managers started cooking the pig for the BBQ at 5:30 a.m. and four of them entered homemade BBQ sauces that attendees voted on throughout the event. 

We’re proud to announce that we had more than 200 people stop by the event to enjoy the delicious food, crowning Garth Stevens as the winner of the sauce contest! More importantly, we raised over $10,000 for Team Rufty in the Walk/Run event. We are so appreciative of the support we received at this event and we feel confident that these funds will help aid St. Jude in its mission to end childhood cancer.

While the 2023 Triangle Walk/Run event has passed, you can still donate to support St. Jude. 

2023 Green Chair Project Chairity Event

This year was our 2nd year as a Building Sponsor for The Green Chair Project’s Chairity event. During Chairity, members of the home furnishings industries contribute curated interior design pieces to create beautiful living spaces. 

During the three-day event, which ran September 20-23, ticket holders and sponsors were able to see these designer creations brought to life and bid on 12 re-imagined chairs up for auction. All proceeds from sponsorships and the sale of the furnishings went to support The Green Chair Project’s mission of transforming housing into homes for local families who are transitioning out of homelessness, crisis, and disaster.

2023 Corporate Leadership Awards

Each year, Triangle Business Journal hosts the Corporate Leadership Awards, which were previously known as the CEO of the Year & C-Suite Awards. Our own Jon Rufty won CEO of the Year back in 2019, and to show our support for other local leaders, this is our second year being a Gift Sponsor for the event. 

The Awards were held at Bay 7 in Durham on September 21, where more than 200 attendees came to show their support for the honorees. 

Women of Western Wake Forum 

On September 29, we were a proud table sponsor for the 2023 Women of Western Wake Forum event, where Cary Magazine honored five outstanding local women by celebrating their achievements. At the event, the women had the opportunity to share their personal stories, and attendees heard from local thought leaders and innovators as they led workshops about real strategies for success. 

Some of the women on our team had the opportunity to attend the luncheon with several of our clients, where we enjoyed hearing from these inspiring speakers.
