This home in the Raleigh area features the National Association of Home Builders' 2012 “Room of the Year.”  N.C. State University selected Rufty Homes as builder to partner with architect Marvin Malecha, dean of the NCSU College of Design, as well as Weinstein Friedlein Architects of Carrboro.

The team was challenged by the university to create a welcoming home with a personal scale rather than a grand and intimidating design. A testimony to teamwork committed to great value, “The Point” was built with in-kind services and materials donations as well as private funds. It features all N.C. materials – from the brick to the wood framing, floors, ceilings and trim. Locally sourced brick was color-matched to Holladay Hall, the first building constructed on the university campus. It is LEED certified and features a closed geothermal system of 14 wells for heating and cooling.

The NAHB recognized Rufty Homes with its “Room of the Year” award as well as the platinum award for “Kitchen Design” in the 2012 Best in American Living Awards at the annual NAHB International Builders’ Show. Rufty utilized Design Lines, Ltd. for the interiors.

The homeowner of this North Raleigh residence was actively involved with us in creating his ideal retreat for entertaining. He selected the home site for its gorgeous views. Yet, the narrow lot had its limitations that required special attention to design and permitting for approval from the neighborhood and city. What resulted is a spectacular home built with exceptional materials, featuring an elevated, in-ground pool with a patio that showcases terrific views of the golf course.

The homeowner of this Chatham County residence maintains both an active lifestyle and travel schedule. In many instances, we worked with him long-distance to design and build his dream home. He would share photos from Houzz.com and discuss with us design detailing via phone. We’re pleased with the results and the fact that he’s happy in his custom home during the off-season.

This North Raleigh residence was custom built for a lovely family with a special interest in the design and building process. The home is based on the design stylings of Charles Voysey, a famous English architect and furniture designer of the 1800s and early 1900s who was renowned for his country houses and pioneering of modern architecture. This style is popular on Kiawah Island, located off the Georgia coast. Friends and family don’t have to travel that far to enjoy this lovely residence.

We custom-built this fine home in Raleigh for a very family-oriented and successful businessman.  The gorgeous lot backs up to watershed parkland for privacy and communion with nature. It serves as a delightful retreat for family and friends. The homeowners were closely involved in the planning process and selection of materials. Note the stone retaining wall as well as the driveway lined with cobblestone curbing and true cobblestone pavers. Because of the home’s setback, the 500-foot driveway features entry and exit bridges designed with stone similar to that of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
