Katie Blackwell joined Rufty Homes in March 2025, bringing a wealth of experience in architecture, interior design, and client advocacy. With a background spanning residential and commercial architecture, custom home selections coordination, and technical design, Katie has been dedicated to high-end custom homes in Raleigh since 2012.

As Client Coordinator, she plays a crucial role in fostering relationships with homeowners, vendors, and subcontractors while ensuring a seamless selection process. Her expertise in both hand-drawn and digital renderings, coupled with her keen eye for interior and exterior design, allows her to guide clients through each phase of their home-building journey. She takes pride in keeping clients on schedule, advocating for their vision, and helping them explore new and unexpected design elements beyond fleeting trends.

Katie thrives on problem-solving and discovering innovative materials for clients and team members alike. She finds immense satisfaction in visiting job sites, seeing the tangible results of the team's dedication. The collaborative, positive culture at Rufty Homes—where continuous improvement is embraced—is one of the many reasons she loves being part of the team.

Originally from Davidson, NC, Katie earned her degree in Architecture from North Carolina State University. Outside of work, she enjoys art, design, home projects, and spending time outdoors. She shares her life with her two beautiful children (who either keep her young or accelerate the aging process—depending on the day!) and their beloved, barky dog, Sprinkles.

A self-proclaimed true crime enthusiast and red wine aficionado, Katie also holds a deep attachment to her own home—a thoughtfully designed labor of love she completed just as the world was shutting down in 2020. The experience solidified her belief in the magic of home design, a sentiment she hopes to bring to every Rufty Homes client.
