As we approach the end of the year, we like to use this time to reflect on all our team has accomplished together. Below, we’ve put together a 2023 year-in-review that highlights some of the best moments of the year. We hope you’ll enjoy looking back at 2023 (and peeking ahead to 2024!) with us.

Each home we build has its own story based on the families living inside them. This year, we shared some incredible stories of the families behind the homes we’ve built and remodeled. If you missed them, you can learn more about them below.

“In 2019, we were honored to build Frank & Barbara’s dream home. Recently, we were asked back to build a custom art studio on to their beautiful home.”
“When Jeff and Christine Johnson decided to move to Raleigh, they never expected to build their custom home in the Triangle. The couple made several trips down to Raleigh during the pandemic, driving through neighborhoods and looking for a home to meet their needs. When they couldn’t find something that would quite work, that’s when they started to consider a build instead.”
“When the Laber family moved into their home in 2014, they knew they would eventually remodel. While they loved their neighborhood and the bones of their house, they knew a well-planned renovation could turn it into the home of their dreams.”
“As newlyweds, Jeanne and Kevin Howard found themselves relocating to the Triangle for their careers. After looking around the area, they ended up moving into a Rufty spec home in Holly Springs, where they lived from 1997 to 2001 before their jobs took them around the country once again.”
The housing market this year faced some challenges and we were not immune to them. There were labor shortages this year that made it more difficult to find subcontractors for projects.
Ongoing supply chain issues, particularly regarding the production and deployment of new transformers, also led to significant homebuilding delays. And, even three years removed from the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, there were still permitting delays this year that impacted the home building timeline.
We are thankful to our clients for being patient with us as we navigated these challenges. We’d also like to acknowledge the hard work of our staff this year, who stepped up to the plate and found new ways to continue providing the best possible service to our clients.
Despite the difficulties of this year, we’re proud of everything we’ve been able to accomplish in 2023.

One of our core values has always been to give back to our community by supporting organizations that make a difference in the lives of people in need. In 2022, we made contributions to the following organizations, totaling $232,984, which led to us receiving the TBJ Corporate Philanthropy Award for this year.
This year, not only did we make direct contributions to local and national organizations, but we also participated in several philanthropic events in the community.
Aside from our participation in these philanthropic events, we also were part of a few other events throughout the year. In February, we attended the NAHB International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas, where we received our BALA Award and enjoyed connecting with creative home designers from around the country.
Then, in March, we celebrated Women in Construction Week by hosting a social event for local designers, architects, and subcontractors, where we learned to make beautiful charcuterie boards and connected with other powerful women in the industry.
We may be biased, but we have the best employees on our team. Our 35 years of success is a result of everyone on the team working together to provide the best possible service to our clients.
We value our employees and the work they do and we’re proud to have a low turnover rate.
As average project costs have increased, our response has been to increase our number of employees so we can maintain the level of quality that people associate with our company.
Growth is always a positive thing and we’ve significantly grown as a business this year thanks to our long-standing employees and new hires.

This year, we’ve also implemented new technology that allows us to work more efficiently. Now, project managers can use tools out in the field and back in the houses to improve the build process. We’re also using 360 cameras during builds and remodels, which gives us better insight during the project.
This year-in-review wouldn’t be complete without a quick look to the future. We already have several exciting projects already in progress that will wrap up in 2024. Keep your eye on our website as we’ll add new photos and stories from these projects to our portfolio. With events like our subcontractor appreciation to start, 2024 is set to be another big year!
We’re also expanding to a 45-minute build radius as more people are looking to build beyond Raleigh and its immediate suburbs.
